Band Bash

We had our annual post holiday band party last night. It was at this really neat place called the Silver Spur--a very old-style western type of theme in a beautiful atmosphere loaded with character--original wood flooring, real tin roofs--beautiful fire places. It was a buffet style dinner, which normally is great--but thankfully I requested that I don't have to pay for the kids, as it was a traditional "western" style dinner too (brisket, ribs, coleslaw, potato salad)---not a whole lot for my vegetarian self and girls to chow on (thankfully I had the foresight to feed us before we left:). But regarding the food, the good news is, there was cake, so all was not lost! We had a really nice time, and the whole restaurant was closed for our private party.

Junior High--High School 23 Year "Reunion"

Facebook brought a whole bunch of us back together after 23 years--pretty neat! A few of us gals (and one guy:), some of whom go all the way back to elementary school, decided to meet for a get-together--it was a wonderful night, full of smiles, joy and laughter! We decided to have a $5 gift exchange, where we drew numbers for the gifts. I wound up with the funniest gift, a fork, with one tine that goes up in the middle---it's called an hors d'oeuveres fork with an attitude--it's hilarious! Anyway, we all keep in very regular touch on Facebook, and we already have big plans underway to make our 25 year reunion in two years a BIG EVENT! (we all admitted we were pretty disappointed with the Saturday night parts of the reunion for both the 10 and the 20---25 will be different:)

Funny Moments: 1. the first person I saw when I walked in was my former manger P.T. from S/O!! We talked at length, and it was wonderful to see her! Later I also bumped into another former S/O coworker/ music friend/ f.b. friend:)

2. A guy at another table walked up to our rather large group and asked me what we were doing there--were we some sort of teacher or hair convention:) Someone said, we're just a bunch getting together from the Class of '87; and as she explained this, the bartender/waitress walked by and said, "oh, that's the year I was born!" ughhhhhhh:)

3. Please note, there was not one STRAND of big hair, no leg warmers, no banana clips, and no shoulder pads to be seen that night:) But there were a few (not enough for me) 80's tunes!

Snow Much Fun!!

I know I'm posting a lot of winter pictures--but I'm hoping that as beautiful as winter is, that this is our last one from the "northwoods."

We're Slightly Buried...

I'm not sure how much snow we got--guessing 8-10 inches. The storm hit us last night pretty strongly around 7 and after--it was pretty bad around 9 pm. I had driven to rehearsal fairly carefully, but visibility wasn't that bad--the roads weren't plowed that well, but I took it slowly as did the other drivers; most of us are used to this around here. HOWEVER, when I left rehearsal, the conditions were pretty much white-out---I was driving on a MAIN THOROUGHFARE--(Bluemound Rd, for those familiar with the area)--I couldn't tell if I was on the road or not! I then tried to turn down what I thought was Calhoun--and couldn't at all tell if I was on the road, and found out I wasn't on Calhoun, and wound up parallel with I94--turned around and went back to Bluemound (thank GOD for four wheel drive--these roads were not plowed!) Then I decided to just take Moorland Road---I was trying to go straight and there was a left hand turn lane going onto Greenfield--and somehow I would up over the small median because I couldn't see it or tell where the lanes were:) Again, thank GOD for four wheel drive:) So, it took be about 45 minutes to get home--visibility was really really bad, I didn't know where the lanes and sometimes roads were, but I found my house!

As a note, only about 10 of us idiots I mean troopers:) made it to our first rehearsal back last night--and my band director gifted me with an AWESOME solo piece----The Theme from Schindler's List; it's such a beautiful piece!!!!!----I am the entire solo part--so hopefully my parents can make it to that concert in Mid May--this is a first for me and I'm excited! Of course that means I might have to actually, gulp, p-p-p-practice?

New Year's Eve --Video Part Deux

The kids started doing the limbo while they awaited the "surgery" of the poor snowman pinata--soon after the first hit or two, his poor head was detached from his body, though the candy remained:)

Sweet Moment--Funny Moment

So here sits daddy and his girls on a blanket, by the warmth and glow of a nice toasty fire, reading bed time stories.

Fast Forward TWO hours later--out come the girls, running from their bedrooms, sporting their daddy's attire!
