River Street Savannah---The Tall Ship

We finally went to Savannah today (for the first time since we purchased our house which is 40 minutes closer to Savannah than we were when lrenting on Lady's Island)--not once but twice!  Why?  because we could (and to pick up J after he came home from work; we're only 20 minutes from the very beautiful historic downtown Savannah and River Street!  We LOVE it there!  It amazes me how many people from the midwest have never heard of Savannah (or Hilton Head for that matter)--these are very cool places!  After we finished our official schooling for the day, the girls and I headed to downtown Savannah (we could get there faster than we could to downtown Milwaukee, and we were only 10 or 15 miles away when living in WI!)  We first hit one of their infamous candy shops, to experience the free pranline samples and the wonderment of flying taffee---we had ourselves a nutritious lunch comprised of popcorn and candy, and dined on the river front.  We ambulated along River Street---lots of very old brick buildings and factories have been converted to shops and restaurants--there's also an outdoor market place right along the river--this is just a really fun city!  As an added bonus, an old tall ship was here, called "Peace"--which we were allowed to board and tour!  A fun day was had by all---so much so, that we went home, and brought J back for a fun evening where we walked River Street again and had pizza on the river front while listening to street musicians:)
