I got to float on the boat ALL day....

while hubby did an all day job (to be continued tomorrow...) on the trailer......

I learned how to tie a Marlin's Spike (nautical knot)....that was cool

I got a tan (ahem, baked)...that was nice

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the boating/marine type of life style...I think I would LOVE to sail the seas...you know, if I weren't prone to motion sickness and all (no issues on our boat though :D )
**side note:  So, aside from watching the anhinga, I've been sitting here, surrounded by very large boats and sail boats....my 20 ft Sea Hunt is a dinghy in comparison...debating if I should give up some of my ice cold water to clean a spill in my cooler.....I won't tell you how long it took me to discover an alternative water source
I also met a new friend...my friend is called an anhinga, and she sat within eight feet of me for about an hour....flappin', drying off, stretching her neck 180 degrees to scratch her tail, scratching her neck very methodically, with each webbed foot......shacking her tail back and fourth....airing out the "pits" ...it was quite an interesting process.  And after this almost hour long  process of drying off was complete, she suddenly dove into the water, and I did not see her surface.  They are incredible swimmers.  My new friend is very interesting:)

The kiddos are at Camp Grandma and Grandpa this week....I (errr) I mean, they, were so very excited for this anxiously-awaited day to arrive.  J worked hard on the trailer...you know, when he wasn't napping, which apparently went on for hours, because we arrived around 8:30 to put the boat in the water at a private dock....and he apparently did not start the job until around 2:30....so, the boat slip is now rented for the night...no I did not opt to sleep on the boat.....and the job will be completed tomorrow (I hope:).....I had a great day....my sole responsibility was to float on a boat :D

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the coastal life-style!

TBT, five years ago:

our first three weeks in SC, landed us in three different houses on Lady's Island.

Our first house was a little green 500 sq. ft cottage in the backyard of someone's property, in the heart of Beaufort:). It's a good thing we're camping people:)

The second house was a very large and beautiful home with amazing views overlooking the marsh, and surrounded by lots of trees. This was in Pleasant Point on Lady's Island. Unfortunately for us and the homeowners, this house had been very heavily damaged with cigarette smoke by the previous tenants. This wasn't clear to us at first because they had it heavily "perfumed" with a citrus carpet cleaner. I was sad we had to leave this house, but it was so badly damaged, the property managers walked in and were overwhelmed with the fumes, and not only released us of our lease, but reimbursed us 100% (just so grateful our household "stuff" was still somewhere in Atlanta). It's too bad, we would have loved living in Pleasant Point!

We then went back to the rental cottage to keep searching.
On July 4th, 2010, we managed to find the house we wound up renting for 8 months. It was a larger than the cottage, but much smaller than the first house in Pleasant Point, had a large fenced in back yard (which was perfect for Piper and for storing our boat and camper), lots of trees and a little pool.

How Beaufort, South Carolina is responding to the tragedy that occurred in Charleston last week:

I LOVE this shirt....it says it all!

A candlelight unity vigil was held on Saturday evening at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park to remember the 9 victims of the tragedy in Charleston.
A Unity Chain vigil is planned for Sunday evening at 8pm, where Beaufortonians are asked to line the Woods Memorial Bridge in downtown.
