A Magical World

Sometimes we need time to go out far from our common world and experience what is a magical world and experiment nature´s gifts.

Father's Day 2011

Father's Day!

I'd like to wish a VERY Happy Father's Day, to two of my most favorite daddies in the whole-wide world (and a Happy Father's Day to all the other terrific fathers out there too!)

And, as an aside, it's hard to believe, since SO much has happened in the past year--but it was a year ago Father's Day, when we were to pack up and forever say goodbye to the Wisconsin chapter of our lives, and a big hello to sunny coastal South Carolina--we had no idea what was to be instore for us, but it has been AMAZING!  So blessed!

Woot WOOT!

cute or CUTE! I'm talking about the hat, though of course as I "age" the compliments become fewer and fewer, so I'll welcome those too:D Anyway--I had my eye on this hat for the past couple of months---Walgreens...and today was the day I made a special trip to Walgreens for the big purchase---guess what, it was their last hat in this style and it was tagless...I jokingly said to the (teenage male) cashier, $2 dolla! And he said, ok, and I happen to know this hat was $15 or $20 when I first saw it (and the other hats were not on sale:)---woot woot!

Home-made "Bulk" Oatmeal

Mix per serving:
1/2 cup of whole oats
1 TBSP powdered milk
brown sugar (I actually omit this and put it only on top of warmed oatmeal)
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cinnamon
(dried raisins, cranberries, cherries, mixed berries, nuts, dried apples, dates--whatever you want)

**I probably put together about 20 servings and store in a large bowl--it is super quick and super yum.

***to warm up, I use 1 cup of water + 1 cup milk and bring to a boil---adding in two cups of oatmeal mix (very creamy because of the powdered milk; also works well with using just water)

Tibetan Singing Bowls

Chakras

Chakras are energy centers located along the center of the body. Many people use the bowls for chakra and energy healing. We use the traditional Chakra method when determining the corresponding Chakra for each bowl buy using the dominant note in each bowl. Below is a list of the traditional Chakra system.

The Crown chakra or Head chakra is positioned at the top of the head. It is associated with cosmic awareness, highest spirituality, and complete integration with Source. Violet is the color of the crown chakra and the musical note is B.

The Third Eye chakra is located in the center of the forehead. This chakra is also called the Ajna center. It is associated with intuition, understanding, visualization, and inner vision. Dark Indigo Blue is the color of the third eye chakra and the musical note is A.

The Throat chakra is positioned in the base of throat. It is associated with communication, expression and speaking one's truth. Azure Blue is the color of the throat chakra and the musical note is G.

The Heart chakra is positioned in the center of the chest, usually shown to be even with the nipple line. The heart is associated with compassion, friendship, empathy and the ability to give and receive love. Green is the color of the heart chakra and the musical note is F. Sometimes the heart chakra is shown as pink, especially in relation to sending love out from the heart.

The Solar Plexus chakra or Third chakra is located midway between the end of the breastbone and the navel. It is associated with issues of personal power, emotions (especially blocked emotions), passion for living, and the ability to protect oneself from being the target of negative or aggressive emotions. Yellow is the color of the solar plexus chakra and the musical note is E.

The Sacral chakra, also called the Second chakra or the Sexual chakra, is positioned in the area between the navel and the pubic bone. Depending on which sources you read, it can be shown to be centered on the navel itself or to be aligned with the sexual organs - ovaries in women and testes in men. It is associated with creativity, sexuality, relationship, and reproduction. Orange. is the color of the sacral or second chakra and the musical note is D.

The Root chakra, also called the First or Base chakra, is located at the base of the spine. It is associated with issues of survival, drive, ambition, grounding one's energy in the physical dimension, your life forces, and balancing experiences that create "fight or flight". Red is the color of the root chakra and the musical note is C.

Happy Trails To Me!

I just discovered this beautiful wooded greenway trail---1/2 mile from my house!  It ends at a beautiful pond!   I can ride my bike to the trail; then hike it; heck, I could then stop by our neighborhood pool and have myself a mini triatholon!
This makes me and my new Keens---HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

"Planet Earth Doesn't Know How to Make It Any Clearer It Wants Everybody to Leave"

Ok---I admit, I have a warped sense of humor---of course my heart-felt prayers are with all affected by all of these natural disaesters.  However, I still thought this piece was hilarious and I really was laughing outloud, trying VERY hard not to wake my hubby at 12:30 am:)

The Earth says events like this should have made it "pretty obvious" what it's been driving at.

EARTH—According to a statement released to the press Tuesday, the planet Earth has "just about run out of ways" to let its roughly 6.9 billion human inhabitants know it wants them all to leave.
Following a recent series of disastrous floods along the Mississippi River and destructive tornadoes across much of the United States—as well as a year of even deadlier natural catastrophes all over the world—the Earth said its options for strongly implying that it no longer wants human beings living on it have basically been exhausted.
"At this point, I think I've stated my wishes quite loudly and clearly," the Earth's statement to all of humanity read in part. "I haven't exactly been subtle about it, you realize. I have literally tried to drown you, crush you, starve you, dehydrate you, pump you full of diseases, and suck your homes and families into swirling vortices of death. Honestly, what more is it going to take for you people to get the message?"
"Do I have to spell it out for you?" the statement continued. "Get the f$%& out of here. I want you to leave now."
Enlarge ImageThe Earth says all it can do at this point is keep manufacturing disasters and hope humanity finally "wises up."
The statement went on to list thousands of incidents in 2011 alone that the Earth claimed were "solely and unmistakably" designed to inform the human race that it might be time to move on, including the devastating tsunami that caused thousands of deaths in Japan, an earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, that killed an estimated 181 people, and historic rainstorms in Colombia that destroyed entire communities with deadly landslides.
The planet Earth also singled out an ongoing drought in China that has left more than 2.3 million people with a shortage of fresh water as "a pretty big goddamned tip-off, wouldn't you say?"
While the Earth had hoped the human race might finally "get the picture" following one of the harshest winter storm years in recorded history, it instead found that people simply went on with their lives, occasionally making reference to disaster victims in their thoughts and prayers but showing no intention whatsoever of preparing themselves for a long trip through the far reaches of space to find a new home.
"I know your species has developed the technology to leave me, I've seen you use it before, so I'm asking you now, please, just take the hint already," read another excerpt from the Earth's statement, which added that it would really be best for all concerned if humanity were to "trundle off to some other biosphere for a while." "You can't possibly be enjoying this, can you? Honestly, you would have to be completely deranged or masochistic to continue staying here."
Immediately after delivering the statement, the Earth ignited a series of wildfires throughout the world's arid regions.
Though some scientists have responded to Earth's message with theories as to precisely what the planet might be trying to communicate, most firmly acknowledged that further study would be required before any definitive evidence could be gleaned from the "fascinating" statement.
"Certainly these utterances from the Earth are strongly worded, but at this point it is difficult to say whether they speak to a larger trend or are simply a bio-geological anomaly," Dr. Roger Summons of MIT said. "While there seems to be an implication that the Earth wants us to go away and never come back, I, for one, can't say conclusively from either a geochemical or a meteorological standpoint whether this is in fact the case."
In a sharp rebuke to both the planet and the mainstream scientific community, Republican leaders in Congress responded this week with a scathing critique of what they deemed to be the Earth's "pathetic and extremist viewpoints."
"What we're seeing here is the same old scientific mumbo jumbo and partisan rhetoric that the Earth has been spewing out for millennia," Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) said. "We're not going to be bullied by a celestial body that has time and again failed to deliver on its promise to glorify and reward mankind with its bounty."
Immediately following these statements from the human race, the Earth emitted a loud sigh, which shifted multiple tectonic plates and caused massive earthquakes on five continents.

This I Miss About Wisconsin!

There are definitely things I do miss about Wisconsin:
I miss the sight of beautiful farms, barns, and rolling hills (yes we have farms here, but, there's something very "countryish" about the Dairyland's many many farms!)  I also miss apple farms and pumpkin farms!  Apparently apples don't grow here and pumpkins are extremely difficult to grow--the rare farms that do grow them have to go to GREAT length to make the pumpkins happen!  I do miss the northwoods atmosphere---of rustic country---that doesn't exist here--it's a whole different feel.  I miss cheese:)  Yes, of course we have imported cheese here--but I really miss WI cheese and the WI cheese prices:)  I of course miss my WI bands---I am currently still bandless at the moment--I don't have to be, but the one accessible band to me in Savannah, still doesn't feel like the right choice.  I met with the local high school band director and put a bug in his ear that our town *needs* a community band!  Please keep your fingers crossed that this can happen some day sooner than later!  And here's a biggie, I miss inland lakes--and the whole look of up north.  Guess what, unless it's the ocean or a pool, we can't just hop in the lakes, ponds and rivers and swim around here!  No more floating on a raft on a warm summer lazy day---aparently the alligators frown upon that:(  So, yes, I really really miss Wisconsin's abundant and beautiful inland lakes!
 Oh, and I miss tulips:(
