A Bedroom Fit for a Princess!

Angel's new bed is up---and I switched out her border from sephia jungle animals to the soft and pretty English garden. And her curtains went from red chino, to a sweet shabby chic. Both girls' beds are finally up, and ALMOST complete:) It was a comedy of errors with these log beds. They were custom-made to our order; rustic log beds, complete with the worm markings---and the box springs have no metal or springs in---they are a very solid black cypress (wood planks go across the base). However, the logs came in truly rustic. J spent hours sanding them so that the girls wouldn't get splinters; then he applied a couple of coats of varnish. One of the logs for the side rails came in very moldy--that was odd, as these logs are kiln-dried--so we sent photos to the company and they sent out a new rail. The new rail arrived, like TWO WEEKS later--and we discovered it was the wrong size---a twin extra long. So then we called back to get yet another rail, and asked for a rush, and were happy to receive it within four days (still had to be custom made). Then came the new box spring and mattress---organic--there are no flame retardents or metal in these beds--all natural and organic. Anyway, the mattress and boxspring arrived a couple of weeks ago, and looked to be VERY nice--but holy smokes are they heavy with a solid wood box spring, and a natural rubber mattress-HEAVY. Well, J decided to read the "content" label on the boxspring and mattress--the mattress was fine, but the boxspring said it contained FR fiber--huh? I looked it up, and sure enough, that's 'flame retardent." So we called the company, and it was shipped to us in error--so this Tuesday we will receive the correct boxsprings.

So here's the funny thing--neither company wants the incorrect merchandise returned--it's just not worth the return shipping cost to them--so we have an extra log rail--and two very nice box springs (which we'll probably just sell on Craig's list:) And we couldn't be more pleased with the girls' beautiful new beds.

BTW---these beds weight between 400-500 pounds, when put together!!
