It was fun and beautiful--colors are just starting to turn up north--it was neat to watch them turn the engine around--by hand to take us back:)
It was a yellow cake with lemon creme filling--holy moly was it moist! I've taken your tips and I frost it almost immediately--and I resorted to trying a box mix because my from scratch ones were coming out dry (and I CAN actually bake)--so I finally figured out it's because I was using the whole wheat pastry flour--you really need to use white or cake flour to make a good cake:) Lesson learned:)
Oh, and the cutouts--I bought some funky flower fondant cutters--and I used them on those fruit rollup things --worked like a charm and actually tasted really good on there (I thought I'd be pulling it off to eat it:)
