Happy Birthday to my Wonderful Husband

We finally unpacked, or at least consolidated the 75 or so boxes that were sitting in our garage (yes, I still have boxes and plastic bins stored in the kitchen and master bedroom:)  we did go down to half the house we had, since we had a full basement up north:).  Anyway, when searching through the endless boxes and packing paper, J came across this wooden carving he had done several years ago.  As a birthday gift to her daddy, our 6 year old Angel Girl decided to put her special touches and embellishments on this---pretty terrific, no?

Along with some of the fun in trying on halloween accessories yesterday at Michael's, we found some wooden pieces, that the girls could decorate for gifts to their daddy.  This one comes from Fairy Girl, who also added our family inside the plane as passengers.  Her daddy has his private pilot's license, so she thought this would be appropriate for him:)

Angel Girl drew a cool picture of her daddy---isn't this good????

And the guests are beginning to make their arrival, it's time for the festivities to commence!

Piper is clearly VERY excited to be at the party:)

So we had a wonderful evening.  We had dinner on the patio--a layered tortellini salad, fresh-baked asiago bread, South Carolina blackberry cider, and of course the birthday "cake."  Well, it's not really a cake, it's cheese squares---I didn't have cake ingredients, and J's not really a cake guy--so I may as well make him something he likes for his birthday, right?  And after his gift opening, our birthday party turned into a pool party!!!  It was a beautiful night, very hard to believe there's a dangerous hurricane (Earl, for those who haven't turned on the news lately:) going on just 4 - 5 hours north of us at this very moment!

A VERY happy birthday to my most wonderful husband!!  And once again, I'd like to say, that the best birthday gift I EVER could have given him came 13 years ago today---a permanent, nonrefundable, the gift that never ends--you got it--ME!!! :D:D  Yes, we indeed met on his birthday:)
