biking the Lowcountry

we biked 18 miles round trip...and earned our dinner:)



this photo....I have to be very honest....my kiddos HATE when I take their pictures...and you know, with smart phones, it's easy and it's often...but these genuinely, happy and beautiful smiles....biscotti...and dinner bribes:)...Hey, whatever works!  I have NO shame in capturing those moments, real or perceived;)

December 26th....we took an 18 mile round trip family bike ride to Old Town and Had Dinner

and capped it off with a gorgeous sunset and backyard campfire:

Because of texters, inattentive drivers, curvy roads with blind spots, etc, we've been overly protective on how far they can ride their bikes. Today, we handed them a cell phone (yes, I know I didn't have that as a kid, but you know;), and told them to watch for cars, stay together, but go explore! (We have a very large neighborhood).
They were SO excited!
Ahhh sweet freedom;)


And then they came home from their "grown up" freedom and asked us to inflate their pool (for the first time in three years)...so they can play Barbies:) 

Family ride to Old Town and the May River (and it was about 95 degrees with a 110 degree heat index:)

Earned our lunch today....20 miles round trip!

today I biked for lunch :D

Just did a quick little 13 mile bike ride to the bike shop .... Saved on gas $!

Which hopefully makes up for the $90 I just dropped on this new helmet

Friday Fun Day!

spent a couple of hours riding on a perfect perfect day!:

did I mention it was perfect?

and a couple of more hours at our first Sunset Party of the season, with Grandma and Grandpa! 

my meditative bike ride through the wildlife refuge....

Just me, my Bacchetta, Amazing Tree Spirits, lots of Sunshine, two dolphins swimming in
Skull Creek (along with Anton's Meridian Sail Boat;), and this gorgeous Dragonfly who's hanging with me....PERFECT Sunday morning. Feeling so very Blessed and Grateful!


 
 


 

Did the 15 mile round trip tour to my parents' Sun City home

...half of it with Fairy Girl (and half the ride is through Sun City)....I rode home in the rain and she found new transportation....oh, and she lost a "vampire" tooth at Grandma and Grandpa's. They were fighting over whose pillow it will go under tonight

today was FUN!

We went for a bike ride AND decorated our tree....I don't think I've ever decorated a tree and took a bike ride on the same day before...doesn't quite work out that way in Wisconsin :D

  
we even took a break from our bike ride for a late lunch/early dinner....outside!

 this is our new favorite local place!  We were here two days in a row and I ordered the exact same lunch (eggplant parm sandwich with caesar salad :D )
 

and then we headed down to our beloved May River....



So GRATEFUL!

Sunday Fun....

Wonderful bike ride today through our local national wildlife preserve topped off with a cozy camp fire....and the icing on the cake....as I was driving onto the bridge, a dolphin jumped into the air, parallel to me....so amazing!'n

Today's nature ride....you know you're in for a great day when you cross the bridge to go onto the island, and a dolphin jumps up into the air parallel to you!!!!
