Eat Dessert First!

I've realized recently that there's a huge and "contagious" energy where we are potentially creating issues and conditions that may not otherwise have existed, by placing SO much blame on food, seeing certain foods as "bad," etc. This is not the same as those who have known food triggers that need to be respected. I also feel this has the potential to distract from root inner work. I too started getting caught up in this and it started taking the joy out of it. The key is to listen to your heart, instead of trying to follow everybody else's "rules."
It's obviously not one size fits all:)

I'm back to the way I used to be, before FB and social media....just being sensible, following what feels right for us, homemade most of the time, organic when possible...but eating with joy, not "fear." And I find absolute pleasure in finding and sharing new recipes that others may enjoy!

As I always tell my family, "focus on what you want, not what you don't want." Thoughts are powerful...and THOUGHTS create!  It's no different with food!

Just my thought for the day.

got my sienna a sweet little accessory.....

This sweet little car magnet means a lot to me.  It's so representative of how far we've come.  And I am grateful!

in the depth of winter i learned lay within me an invincible summer...

these very words are my heart and soul ....
So grateful for my island cowgirl bangle that I wear and cherish daily to remind me of how far I've come....

and on this beautiful winter day, the five year anniversary of Buddy's transition, which was probably the hardest day of my life...and which also represents so much else for me....

I wear these words on my wrist and in my heart and soul with absolute Love and Gratitude

the triple filter test

In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day, an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, "Do you know what I just learned about your nemesis?"

"Wait," Socrates replied, "Before you talk to me about this person, take a moment to consider what you're about going to share. I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"

"Well, no," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and..."

"All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now, let's try the second filter: the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about this person something good?"

"No, on the contrary...," he replied, attempting to expand.

"So," Socrates interrupted, "You want to tell me something bad about this person, but you are not certain it is true. You may still pass the test though, because there's one filter left: the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about this person going to be useful to me?"

"No, not really," he surrendered, "It's just gossip about his personal life."

"Well," concluded Socrates, "If what you want to tell me is neither true, nor good, nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"
