on this day, six years ago:
In January of 2010, after years of talking about relocating from the Midwest to the Carolinas, I had had enough. In January, we contemplated forcing the move, but we soon realized that would have been much more costly, challenging, and would have landed us in the wrong location. Very quickly after that...I began consciously doing some VERY powerful visualization/manifestation techniques....I never read about them (in fact, Mike Dooley had not written those particular books yet;)....but by golly, what I did is exactly as he later described! 1. I visualized as if it's already happened. That became really easy as the girls and I visited my parents in their FL home for three weeks:)....it made it really easy to feel like we were already living in the southeast, during winter;). 2. Take some small action step towards your desire: while in FL, I purchased a set of wind chimes and envisioned them in My Carolina backyard forest (got the forest too!) 3. Let it go and trust the process: this is the hard part, not obsessing over it, but this was a good time to hold faith, trust, and patience. Well, by the end of our three week trip, my hubby flew back down to drive back with us, and said he had received a call for a phone interview in Beaufort, SC....(literally his first interview offer in the Carolinas, in the three years he had Been applying). The drive was out of the way, but he said it was near Savannah and asked if we should go see the area. Of course I jumped on that and said yes...and suggested since his phone interview was that day, to change it to an in person. (And yes I loved the area;).....fast forward, one month, four more phone interviews, one more in-person interview, and one crazed mom who was struggling with the patience thing. On this day six years ago, I took the girls to a nearby garden, taking a gazillion photos; took them to our favorite ice cream shop at a farm near our house...just knowing these were our "goodbye WI" photos.....and we received the call we had been very eagerly anticipating, that evening! p.s. The Powers to Be landed us exactly where our hearts belong...grateful beyond grateful 💚💙

Wishing all the wonderful dads, here and in Heaven....a blessed and beautiful Father's Day!
There is so much to celebrate and honor today, and I'm so grateful! Here's a shout out to three of my favorite dads!
Two years ago, just a few days before Father's Day, my own dad received a very unexpected cancer diagnosis....and he fought hard and beat it...I can't tell you what it means to me today to not only have him with us, but to be able to celebrate Father's Day with him at two of his favorite places....an Italian restaurant, followed by the beach! This is the first time in many years that I get to celebrate with my dad in person....because a few months ago...my parents moved to SC, just a hop, a skip, and a Sun City security gate away;)

And to my father in law, age 92. Although we don't live in the same
state, I'm so grateful we get to spend as much time as we do with
you...Florida is not all that far; and Ohio (it's a little farther), but
not too far either. My girls get to grow up with both sets of
grandparents...as did I, what a blessing!

And (finally), to my own husband. He is an amazing best friend, husband, and father....And it's and honor and adventure to be his wife! And five years ago on Father's Day, we packed our household in that really big truck in the photo below, we hooked up the boat, the camper, two young kiddos and a golden retriever, leaving WI for SC on our newest adventure...oh, and we headed to South Carolina with no place to live (at least he had a job lined up;)

the girls letting me take a thousand pictures at the gardens of them:D)"
....we were so blessed to live within a couple of miles of these beautiful gardens. When we got home that night, we found out we were moving to South Carolina (and our WI life suddenly became very hectic with the mass exodus;) The girls' ages: 4 and 6....they both still had most of their baby teeth....

in honor of Emil: GET OUT: Pacetti concert to feature mix of old, new tunes Program honors local music legend
The concert Saturday night (May 9) honoring local music legend Emil
Pacetti will feature “a very interesting mix of music,” according to
Craig Gall.
Gall, the Kenosha Pops Band’s musical director, said the varied program of music “is filled with pieces Emil either liked over the years or requested over the years.” Many of the pieces honor Pacetti’s Italian heritage.
Pacetti — a musician and music education supporter — died Sept. 16 at age 75. He operated Pacetti’s Music Unlimited from 1976 until late 2009 and could be found at area student music events, repairing instruments for students.
Gall and Pacetti’s wife, Marsha Lee, “hammered out the program” together.
Along with Pops Band favorites, the program features pieces that are new to the Pops Band’s library, Gall said.
“We bought some pieces for this concert — the love theme from the movie ‘Cinema Paradiso’ is new and the ‘Pie in the Face Polka’ is new.”
“Cinema Paradiso” — from the 1988 Italian film — will feature Garrett Kornman playing the alto saxophone solo.
Kornman is the assistant conductor of the Pops Band — of which Pacetti was a member for close to 50 years.
“The Pie in the Face Polka” is from the 1965 comedy “The Great Race” and will feature clarinet players Tim Bell, Tony Surowiak and Pam Harrison.
“Emil played the clarinet, so we wanted a clarinet feature,” Gall said. “All three of our soloists were friends with Emil.” Gall added that the Dorf Kappelle German band he’s a member of plays this polka quite often “and Emil really liked to hear it — the clarinets have to play that fast melody.”
The piece was written by Henry Mancini — another great Italian, Gall added.
“Badger Legionnaire March.”
The tune was written by George Manupella, who conducted the American Legion Band, which eventually became the Kenosha Pops Concert Band, from 1924 to 1961.
“Badger Legionnaire” will be conducted by another Pops Band veteran — Frank Germinaro, a longtime musician with the band who was conductor from 1994 to 2003, when Gall took over.
“Emil loved that piece,” Germinaro said. “It is made up of tunes from his region of Italy, so he recognized a lot of them. I always played it for Emil.”
Other pieces on Saturday’s program include:
* “Come Back to Sorrento” by Ernesto de Curtis. “This is a beautiful arrangement by Sammy Nestico,” Gall said. “The Pops Band has been playing this for at least 40 years or so. Emil played clarinet on this many times, I’m sure.”
* “Nessun Dorma” (from the opera “Turandot”) by Giacomo Puccini.
* Highlights from “Exodus” by Ernest Gold and arranged by Alfred Reed.
* “Parade of the Charioteers” (from the movie “Ben Hur”) by Miklos Rozsa, arranged by Robert Hawkins.
* “Italian Festival,” a medley arranged by Glenn Osser that includes “Summertime in Venice” and the love theme from “La Strada.”
* “The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves” from Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Nabucco.” Jim Ripley, the band director at Carthage College, is conducting this piece. Greg Berg will be the vocal soloist.
“Emil always liked hearing these pieces,” Gall said. “He loved ‘Exodus’ and requested that piece at least twice since I’ve been the Pops Band conductor. He was a big fan of the movie’s main theme.” That main theme won Song of the Year at the 1961 Grammy Awards, the only instrumental song to receive that award to date.
* “Trumpeter’s Lullaby” by Leroy Anderson, featuring soloist Mark Eichner.
“Mark Eichner is doing ‘Trumpeter’s Lullaby’ for two reasons,” Gall explained. “Emil loved Leroy Anderons music — and he wanted to play the trumpet as a little boy. He was pushed toward playing clarinet” because the local band had enough trumpet players. Also, Gall said, “We wanted to include Mark, obviously. He founded the UW-Parkside Community Band, which Emil was a part of for so long.”
* “To Dance in the Secret Garden” by Robert W. Smith. Laura Rexroth, the new UW-Parkside band director, is directing this piece.
* The concert will open with the American and Italian national anthems and includes another piece close to Pacetti’s heart — “Il Silenzio” (The Silence). This tune showcases the band’s trumpets.
The 1965 Italian number was written as a memorial piece and was first played on the 20th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands during World War II. Pacetti purchased “Il Silenzio” for the Pops Band, Gall said, to honor his father, who was killed during World War II.
“I’m so glad we were able to play the piece last summer, so Emil could hear it at a concert.”

Admission: Free; donations will be collected for The Pacetti Project (P.O. Box 1856) to be used for local student music programs. Also, Kenosha Pops Concert Band CDs featuring Pacetti will be sold at the concert.

goodbye WI....hello SC!!!!
We are SO incredibly grateful that my parents will soon be neighbors....instead of living four hours (or 20 hours, depending on where they are), they will be four miles away...we'll be able to ride bikes to each others' homes! One house packed, one to go!

nostalgic fall harvest decorating
Added a little decorative touch....Autumn....I do miss the beauty of WI
in the fall....along with pumpkin farms, the crispness in the air
(before it turns bitter cold;), apple farms....the giant pumpkin Fest,
the north woods craft fairs.....the pumpkin patch farms just don't
compare down here;)

This I Miss About Wisconsin!
There are definitely things I do miss about Wisconsin:
I miss the sight of beautiful farms, barns, and rolling hills (yes we have farms here, but, there's something very "countryish" about the Dairyland's many many farms!) I also miss apple farms and pumpkin farms! Apparently apples don't grow here and pumpkins are extremely difficult to grow--the rare farms that do grow them have to go to GREAT length to make the pumpkins happen! I do miss the northwoods atmosphere---of rustic country---that doesn't exist here--it's a whole different feel. I miss cheese:) Yes, of course we have imported cheese here--but I really miss WI cheese and the WI cheese prices:) I of course miss my WI bands---I am currently still bandless at the moment--I don't have to be, but the one accessible band to me in Savannah, still doesn't feel like the right choice. I met with the local high school band director and put a bug in his ear that our town *needs* a community band! Please keep your fingers crossed that this can happen some day sooner than later! And here's a biggie, I miss inland lakes--and the whole look of up north. Guess what, unless it's the ocean or a pool, we can't just hop in the lakes, ponds and rivers and swim around here! No more floating on a raft on a warm summer lazy day---aparently the alligators frown upon that:( So, yes, I really really miss Wisconsin's abundant and beautiful inland lakes!
Oh, and I miss tulips:(

Circus World Museum
There were a couple of firsts here! This is the first time Fairy Girl has ever been to a circus. This is the first circus Little Angel can remember (she was 1.5 the last time she went, oh, and Fairy Girl was one month from being born--speaking of which, I hold a grudge. I WANTED to ride on the elephant--I was 3 weeks from delivering my second baby girl and I WANTED to ride on the elephant? Why? Because I thought that would be the ultimate pregnancy photo! Well, my MOTHER would not let me!!! Can you believe that??? I consulted my beloved OB-GYN (who, by the way, gave me special permission just to travel to my parents' place:) And here was his response: "as your physician, I would have to advise against it. But if it were my wife or daughter, I'd say go for it:)" Yes, my o.b. was VERY cool and I miss him dearly:)
There were other firsts, the girls (and grandma) had their very first elephant ride! And, the girls were selected to be apart of the children's circus performance, performing as non-other-than, elephants! I thought they were spectacular elephants! They had experience you know, an hour or two earlier, riding Bubbles!

Another Chapter Comes to An End
It's time to say goodbye to the house we bought, because we had Buddy and he needed a yard--we literally bought this house for our Buddy!!! It's time to say goodbye to the house where we brought two beautiful baby girls home. It's time to say goodbye to the house where we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Buddy who brought so much life to our home and who gave us everything! It's time to say goodbye to the house where we brought our sweet playful Piper the Puppy Poo home. It's time to say goodbye to the house where we lived life and grew. It's time to say goodbye to Wisconsin...
And with deep gratititude, we say hello to New Beginnings!

Why I Love Wisconsin! --- A Poem
It's winter in Wisconsin and gentle breezes blow,70 miles per hour at 52 below.
Oh, how I love Wisconsin when the snow's up to your butt.
You take a deep breath of winter air and your nose is frozen shut.
Yes the weather here is wonderful,I guess I'll hang around.
I could ...never leave Wisconsin, cause I'm frozen to the ground!
