Taco Seasoning

Clean Eating Taco Seasoning

Ingredients:

    2 tablespoons ground cumin

    1 teaspoon paprika

    1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

    1/2 teaspoon onion powder

    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

    1/4 teaspoon black pepper

    1/4 teaspoon chili powder

Directions:

Blend all spices in a bowl and use to season any taco meat you are cooking. Use approximately 1 tablespoon per pound of meat.

Note: This mix has a small amount of “kick” to it. Nothing that will set your mouth on fire, but definitely noticeable. If you want something without the kick, leave out the cayenne and add an extra 1/2 teaspoon of paprika.

Healthier Homemade Ranch Dressing

RANCH DRESSING:

1/2 cup  of plain yogurt
1/3 cup sour cream
2 Tbsp mayo
2 Tbsp minced chives
1 small clove
1 tsp white wine vinegar
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt
black pepper to taste

(**we also throw dill weed in, and add in some dry powdered ranch dressing seasoning, because this did not taste "ranchy" enough for us....those additions make this fabulous...I'm sure you could use non dairy substitutes easily). This is the best-tasting dressing I have ever had!!

(recipe from snackgirl.com)

Bonus (from Pinterest, have not yet tried this):

Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix:

1/3 cup dry buttermilk
1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon dried dill
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

Directions:  Place all ingredients in your food processor and whirl for a minute just to blend and crumble those parsley and onion flakes.  Store in an airtight container.  Mason jars work great.
